Using an Approved Service Station:

When it comes to safety, there is no margin for error. All approved service stations are audited and held to the highest legislative and regulatory standards. It is essential for vessel owners to use fully approved service stations for their specific brand of liferaft. Only authorised centres have access to the correct service manuals and undergo the required product training.

Using non-authorised service stations may not only invalidate your warranty but also put your crew and vessel at serious risk. Incorrect or non-approved spare parts could damage the liferaft, causing it to fail in an emergency. Additionally, non-approved servicing may restrict a vessel’s ability to sail, so we strongly recommend servicing liferafts at an approved station as soon as possible.

Mandatory Requirements:
For liferafts to function correctly when needed, servicing (inspection and repacking) must be carried out according to the manufacturer’s service instructions. Each make and model is unique and must be serviced by certified technicians trained by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Only authorised service stations have access to the latest service manuals, bulletins, and approved spare parts.

SOLAS Compliance:
Vessels operating under SOLAS (as per IMO Resolution A761(18)) require liferaft service stations to be jointly approved by the manufacturer and local flag state. Service personnel must receive regular OEM training, and stations must maintain original spare parts and service manuals.

ISO 9650 Liferafts:
Vessels carrying ISO 9650 liferafts must ensure these are serviced at an approved service station.

What’s Included:
All liferafts serviced at an approved service station undergo a rigorous inspection by fully qualified technicians to ensure they are fit for purpose and capable of maximising performance in emergencies. Liferafts are serviced in accordance with the applicable service manual and statutory requirements.

Technical Specification

Component Testing: Individual components are stripped down and tested where appropriate, with replacements or repairs made if necessary.
Life Item Replacement: Ensures all life items have adequate life remaining until the next service.
Pressure Testing: A working pressure test, along with other mandatory tests required by IMO Resolution A.761 (18), is conducted.
Service Reporting: A service report detailing the liferaft's performance, along with general observations, is linked to the raft's unique serial number, ensuring full service traceability via an electronic database.
Certified Approval: An authentic certificate is issued after each service.
Rapid Service Turnaround: To expedite servicing, all service stations maintain a stock of approved components and spare parts.
